Andrew was born May 12, 1930 to Michael and Rose (Schmidt) Gustin in Flasher, ND. He went to St. Anthony grade school and later got his GED. Andrew joined the US Army Airborn in 1951 and was honorably discharged in 1954. He was stationed in Alaska and Japan.
He married Shirley Doll on November 30, 1957 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Mandan. He was a power line foreman and most recently worked with Central Power in Minot. Andrew’s biggest accomplishment was planning and building his own home. Following retirement he enjoyed wood working and gave most of his wood work projects to his friends and family. He also enjoyed gardening and cycling.
He was a member of the American Legion Post 0039 and a 3rddegree member of the Knights of Columbus in Velva.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley Gustin, Bismarck; sons, Mark Gustin, Apple Valley, MN and John Gustin, Colorado Springs, CO; his daughters, Therese Gustin, Bismarck and Mary Havens, Monument, CO; his brothers, Fr. Clem Gustin, Paul (Leona) Gustin, and Hugo (Martha) Gustin; his sisters, Verne Goeppinger, Alice (Al) Ternes, Isabell Mahrer, Joan Eckroth and Angela Kopp; sister-in-law, Frances Mann; and his grandchildren, Jordan Burdick, Bridger Havens and Jessica Gustin.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Michael and Rose Gustin; son, Warren; brothers, Fred and John; sisters, Cecilia Hoffman, Felica Restivo, Carol Miller and Irene Riehl; brothers-in-law, Bob Mann, Bill Goeppinger, Bert Kopp, Charlie Restivo, Emil Reihl, Stally Miller and Ross Hoffman; and his father and mother-in-law, Peter and Mathilda Doll.
