Rolla has lost an old-time citizen in the person of Alwilda Marr. Her death will be mourned by hundreds of people not only in Rolla, but by many who have moved away. She died at the home of her son, Sylvester Marr, Wednesday morning. She was past 82 years of age.
The deceased was born in Virginia. She came with her parents to Rolla back in the 60's. For over twenty-five years she was cook at the Grant Hotel, during the time it was being run by Mrs. M. A. Shaw. Excepting a few years residence in Sedalia, Mo., she has resided at Rolla all those years. Her husband, Wm. Marr died in 1892. She is survived by two sons, Ben Marr and Sylvester Marr, of Rolla; also six grandchildren and one brother, Richard Fisher of Independence, Mo. She was a faithful member of Elkins Chapel(Methodist) Church in this city. She was a good woman, a good citizen and faithful always.
Funeral services will be held at 3 o'clock today (Thursday) at Elkins Chapel, her pastor, Rev. Terrell, in charge.
