Rachel Allen married Ira Bigelow on 10 June 1784, Colchester-Westchester, Connecticut (Early Connecticut Marriages, Book 7, page 115). Westchester is the western portion of the town of Colchester.

She died in 1812, New York State. At the time she was living in Ontario, County, which would later become Livingston County, New York. She likely died in Geneseo, New York, where she and Ira are believed to have been living, at the time of her death. Ira would later move to Livonia.

She and Ira had 9 children, all believed to have been born in Colchester, New London, Connecticut.

The family moved to New York around 1806, when Ira's father, Ezra, purchased a large parcel of land in the Town of Geneseo.
