From the History of Putnam County, Indiana (1887):

Noah Lee, deceased, late of Marion Township, was born in Pulaski County, Kentucky, April 13, 1812, son of Charles and Nica Lee. He was reared to farm life in his native county and received a rudimentary education in the early subscription schools of his time. He was married March 22, 1836 to Miss Elizabeth Gasteneau, who was born March 28, 1815 in Pulaski County, and her parents were Joab and Sallie Gasteneau. Mr. Lee removed to Illinois about 1850, living in Champaign County about two years. He then removed to Marion Township, this county where he lived until his decease which occurred about
twenty five years ago. He was the father of seven children, three of whom are living Harvey, Catherine wife of John Phipps of Missouri, and James W. Mrs. Lee resides on the home farm, where she owns 162 acres of land, in a good state of cultivation. Mr. Lee was Democrat in politics, and a member of
the Regular Baptist Church, and served as deacon of that church. He was a kind and loving husband and father, and an obliging neighbor. In his demise Putnam county lost one of her most useful citizens.
