Denmark where he grew to man
hood. In 1889 he immigrated to
the United States and located in the
vicinity of Waterloo, Iowa. Two
years later he went to Oregon where
he stayed until 1893 and then went
to Denmark for a visit.
The following spring he returned
to the United States and located at
Newell where he has made his home
until the day of his death, Aug
1940. He never married.
A brother, G. C. Gravesen preceded
him in death several years
ago and lies buried at Junction City,
Oregon and a sister Marie G. Nielsen
passed away at Newell some six
years ago and is buried in the
Newell cemetery.
Mr. Gravesen is survived by
brother, Anton Gravesen of Askovt
Minn., and several nieces and nephews,
namely Mrs. Agnes Brumbaugh
of Des Moines. Mrs. Ethel Andersen
of Rock Rapids, Mrs. Emma Lindsay,
Mrs. Mabel Erickson and Edward
and Arthur Nelsen of Newell.
