Ramona Elizabeth Quinn, 87, of McAlester, died Friday, June 23, 2017 at her residence. Ramona was born to Jose and Antonia (Rodriguez) Hernandez on July 14, 1929 in McAlester. She graduated from McAlester High School. Ramona married Maxwell Quinn, and they were together for over 30 years. She had worked at St. Mary’s Hospital, Seam-Prufe, and owned and operated the Corral Club. She worked for several departments at the McAlester Army Ammunition Plant before retiring, including munition handler and forklift driver. She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Church. She was a charter member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary and had served as President, Junior and Senior Vice President, chairman of the youth activities, Junior Girls chairman, Gold Star Mother chairman, and legislative chairman. Ramona volunteered at the Talihina VA Hospital working in the concessions and also served as chaplain. She volunteered for the Senior Citizens Nutritional Program in McAlester. She was a member of a bowling league and enjoyed watching horse racing. She was preceded in death by her parents: Jose and Antonia Hernandez, daughters: Antonia Quinn and Sonya Quinn, and 9 brothers and sisters. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, June 30 at St. John the Evangelist Church celebrated by Rev. Leonard Higgins with eulogy provided by Rev. Jessie Hernandez, Jr. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Memorial Park Cemetery.
