Emily Louise Irving Allen, of Birmingham, Alabama, passed away on Wednesday, 21 Jun 2017. She was born 8 Feb 1925 to Mary McDonald Irving and George Henry Irving of Birmingham, Alabama.

She attended Phillips High School in Birmingham. After graduation, she attended Birmingham Southern College where she earned a Bachelor's of Arts Degree and was a member of Zeta Tau Alpha Sorority.

On 13 May 1944 she married Bibb Allen and was his devoted wife and best friend for 63 years until his death in 2007.

She was an active member of First United Methodist Church and the Birmingham and Alabama State Bar Auxillaries. She was also active in community service including the Birmingham Symphony Association, the Birmingham Museum of Art and the Women's Committee of 100.

She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

She is survived by her two children, six grandchildren, and two great grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by her sister, Dorothy Irving Plosser.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, 27 Jun 2017 in the sanctuary at Canterbury United Methodist Church at 4 pm, and the family will receive friends in the church parlor after the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in her honor and memory to First United Methodist Church in Birmingham or the Bibb Allen Honors Pre-Law Schlarship at Birmingham Southern College.
