Husband of Maria and father of Jesse Tuthill, Maria L., Maria J., Thomas A., Sarah Frances (married James William Lester), Louisa, Anna M., Nancy, and Herbert Clinton Loper.

In 1850, Jesse T. Loper, aged 39, was living in Southampton, NY, with his wife, Maria, aged 36, and children, Jesse, aged 16, Thomas, aged 7, Sarah, aged 4, and Ann M. Loper, aged 2. He was shown to be a seaman.

Jesse died when he fell overboard off the Smack Ship "Montauk" in Plum Gutt.

Another Loper line probably comes from Jesse T. Loper born 1811, who drowned in Gardiner's Bay March 15, 1861; Maria, his widow, died 1861 aged 50. Herbert Clinton Loper, born 1854, is recorded in some of Dr. F. A. Finch's notes as son of Jesse T. Loper (probably son of the above) and his wife Catherine; he was born 1854, d. Jan. 26, 1911. Still another Jesse Loper died in Amagansett Oct. 24, 1915 aged 47. HERBERT CLINTON LOPER b. 1854 d. 1911 m. Nancy Matilda Baker; she b. 1880 d. 1912; she m. 1st William Henry Bennett; ch. Herbert C. b. Aug. 15,1902, Jesse b. Sept. 12, 1904, Frank b. 1908 d. 1952, John b. Oct. 8, 1910. HERBERT C. b. 1902 m. Hazel B. Green Nov. 23, 1929; ch. Nancy J. b. April 2,1931; Herbert C. b. May 10, 1933; Edward Green b. Oct. 31, 1946. JOHN (s. of Herbert C, Jesse T.) b. Oct. 8, 1910 m. Helen L. Green 1933; ch. Betty b. July 24, 1934, John b. Feb. 27, 1937, Marilyn Ann b.
