Ill for the past six months, retired Route 1, Morrison farmer Herman Basham, 70, died at 11:30 p.m. Wednesday in St. Hospital, Nashville.

A native of this county and member of the Baptist Church, he was the son of the late Lester and Locky Jane Rigsby Basham. He was married to the former Opal Jones.

Besides his widow, survivors include six sons and two daughters, David of Rock Island, Charles, Donald, Ray, Bernice and Bobby Basham, all of McMinnville, Mrs. Helen Jennings and Mrs. Billie Jean Fults, both of Morrison. He is also survived by three brothers and three sisters, William, Hubert and Thurman Basham, Mrs. Minnie Henderson, all of Viola, Mrs. Ruby Townsend of Manchester, Mrs. Maggie Cox of McMinnville, and nine grandchildren.

Horace Snipes and Douglas Haston will conduct services in the funeral home chapel at 2 p.m. Saturday. Interment will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery.
