Louis James Hammond, Son of William James and Violet Hammond, of Preston, Victoria, Australia. Louis was served with the RAAF in WWII and lost his life when his plane, Halifax DT721 51 Squadron crashed at Huize Padua- Handel between Boekel and Gemert, Noord-Brabant Holland...

Shot down by Oberleutnant Manfred Meurer of the 3./NJG 1, flying a Bf 110 F-4 from Venlo airfield. Sgt Hough injured by a shrapnel and treated by a local GP (Dr Verbeeck). German SiPo ordered to bring him to a local hospital (in Boxmeer). Both (Best and Hough) were transferred to Lamsdorf POW camp.
