SHREVEPORT, LA -- Mrs. Ruth Harrel Mulkey, 97, died at I H S Pierremont on July 1, 1996 after a lengthy illness. Graveside services will begin at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 3, at Forest Park Cemetery. Officiating will be Mrs. Mulkey's great-grandson, Reverend John McKellar of White's Chapel United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Mulkey was a native of Lewisville, AR and a resident of Shreveport, LA for 66 years. She was a member of Noel Memorial United Methodist Church, Southern Literary Club, Daughters of the American Revolution, Tea and Topics, and Chi Omega Fraternity. She was also a loving mother and grandmother.
Mrs. Mulkey was preceded in death by her husband, N. E. Mulkey. She is survived by her daughter, Doris Meares Pearce and husband, Frank; two grandchildren, Diana Meares McKellar and Ruth Meares McDade and husband, Mickey; five great-grandchildren, John Eric McKellar and wife, Debbie, Robert McKellar, William Butler McDade and wife, Kelly, Paige M. Hubbell and husband, Donald, Eric Meares McDade; three great-great-grandchildren, John Eric McKellar, Jr., Chandler Elizabeth Diana McKellar, and Sadie McDade; one sister, Elizabeth Harrel Walker, numerous nieces and nephews.
The family requests that memorial be made to C-BARC, 351 Jordan, Shreveport, LA 71101 or White's Chapel United Methodist Church, 185 S. White Chapel Road, Southlake, TX 76092.
