Thelma Goode Rhodes, 69, of Huddleston, departed her life on June 9, 2017. She was born on May 31, 1948, to the late Ernest and Emma Goode. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Selma Goode and the Rev. Jenni Bonds; and five brothers, Harold, Roger, Calvin, Willie, and Elbryn Goode. At an early age she joined Poplar Springs Baptist Church, where she was baptized. Thelma leaves to cherish her precious memories, her husband, Clifton A. Rhodes, Sr.; three sons, Christopher Goode, of Goodview, Va., Ronald Goode (Melissa), of Evington, and Clifton A. Rhodes, Jr. (Cutina), of Bedford; one daughter, LaShonda Battle (Eugene), of Huddlestion;10 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren; two brothers, Carl Goode (Dorothy), of Bedford and Elmer Goode (Maxine), Charlotte, N.C.; one sister, Jean Spinner, of Big Island; three sisters-in-law, Betty Goode, Maxine Goode, and Donna Goode, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and special friends. A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, June 15, 2017, at Poplar Springs Baptist Church, Goode, with the Rev. William Goode officiating. The interment will be held in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday, June 14, 2017, from 7 until 8 p.m. at Davis-Turner Funeral Service. Service of comfort rendered by Davis-Turner Funeral Service.
