OBITUARY: WARREN THOMAS THOMPSON
On Thursday, June 1, 2017, Warren Thomas Thompson passed at his lake house on Lake Hartwell in Martin, Georgia.
He is survived by his son and daughter, Matthew and Amy; their spouses, Dasha and Jeremy; his grandchildren, Knox and Miles; his sister, Marti; and his brother, Trent.
Warren's passing was preceded in death by his loving wife of 28 years, Debbie Constans Thompson, and his sister Barbara Brown.
Warren was born in Las Cruces, New Mexico, on September 5, 1953, to Arthur Thompson and Geneva Ives. He lived there a short time before moving to Fayetteville, TN, where he spent his childhood and graduated from Central High School.
Warren received his Bachelors of Science in Engineering from Western Kentucky University, where he met his wife. After graduation, they moved to Austin, TX, where he pursued his Masters of Engineering as a proud Longhorn from the University of Texas. He continued on to pursue an enriching career in Environmental Engineering at Oak Ridge National Laboratories in Knoxville, TN, where he raised his family before relocating to Tri-Cities, WA to continue his engineering career and eventually retire.
Warren was an international traveler and truly enjoyed learning about other cultures. When he wasn't busy reading the latest Tom Clancy novel or researching his next adventure, he could be found on the water in his boat or spending time with his family, possibly in the aisles of Costco. The love for his family was abundantly apparent as his eyes would gleam with pride when speaking about his grandsons.
He enjoyed Mother Nature, even from 10,000 feet after receiving his pilot's license.
Warren's kindness and generosity are what defined him as a man. He never met a stranger and was the essence of a true southern gentleman.
A simple service will be held on Friday, June 16, 2017, at 1:00 p.m. at All Saints Episcopal Church, 1322 Kimball Ave., Richland, WA 99354.
Warren's ashes will be interred in the church's Memorial Garden.
