Dorothy Mary Ludwig, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Arnold J. Ludwig, and Charles Thomas Maxwell, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph C. Maxwell, were married 2 May 1946 in a nuptial mass given at St. John Catholic church in Quincy, Illinois. Reverend F. C. Schlepphorst presided.

The bride wore an ivory satin gown, with a full skirt and long train, and a crystal tiara from which flowed a lace edged veil. She carried a white rose bouquet.

Dorothy Maxwell graduated Quincy Notre Dame high school in 1942, and continued her education at Gem City Business college in Quincy. She belonged to Theta Alpha Chi sorority. She worked for Illinois Bell Telephone.

Charles Maxwell was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant in the Army Air Force. He served with the Eighth Air Force in England, serving 35 missions in a B 17. After that he returned to the USA where he was part of air transport command. He was honorably discharged as a Captain.

Arnold and Marie (Johannes) Ludwig welcomed an infant daughter 27 May 1924 in Quincy, Illinois. They named her Dorothy Mary Ludwig.

Dorothy grew up to marry Charles Thomas Maxwell. They moved to Overland Park, Kansas, in May of 1968.

Mrs. Dorothy Maxwell was in a car involved in a four vehicle collision in Missouri. She was pronounced at the hospital in St. Charles, Missouri. Charles Maxwell Sr. was driving and was uninjured.

Reverend F. C. Schlepphorst, who had also married the couple, led funeral services held at St. John Catholic church. Mrs. Maxwell had long attended mass there while in Quincy and was married there.

Interment took place at Calvary cemetery in Quincy, Illinois.
