Benedict Christoffel Ailshite was
born 1751, possibly at Ft. Redstone,
near Brownsville, Pennsylvania,
son of Johann Conrad Elscheid and
Maria Catherina Goessel.
His name came from his mother's side
of the family.
Possibly based on old law of primogeniture
(firstborn son inherits father's estate)
which law/practice prevailed in Germany
and Scandinavia, Benedict inherited his
father's land in Powell's Fort,Frederick,
Virginia Colony. [Comment by Thala June]
