Michael Ailshite was born 1756
on Smith or Cedar Creek, in
Frederick County, Virginia,
son of Johann Conrad Elscheid and
Maria Catherina Goessel.
Michael married 4 Aug 1789 Shenandoah VA

"The Aleshire brothers, Michael and
Peter, came as emigrants from the
Shenandoah Valley VA to Ohio in 1802,
and settled first near the mouth of
Kiger Creek until 1805, when Michael
came to Leading Creek and bought a
farm. He afterwards moved to Salem
where he died in 1845..."

"Michael Aleshire was a partner in
a salt works about 1820, along with
Caleb Garner, Benjamin Stout and
Thomas Shepard. He later sold out to
Stout.
"In 1810 Michael purchased 160 acres
of land in Rutland Twp from John Miles
who was one of the first settlers to
arrive. In 1813 Michael purchased an
additional 160 acres and in 1815
acquired 40 acres. For the next 20
years he farmed 360 acres. Other
Aleshires who owned adjacent land:
Conrad "Coonrod",Abraham and John.
Peter and his sons settled a little
further East near Salem Center."
