Our wonderful mother left this earthly existence at her home in Anderson, Ind., on June 7, 2017. She was born in Indianapolis on April 26, 1929, and the family moved back to Kentucky shortly there after. Mom grew up in a large family consisting of her mother and daddy (Ella Graham and Herhsell Pierce), and siblings, Herbert, Edith, Gladys, Charley Norman, Uldene, Doris, Lonnie and Shannon. Mom moved from Kentucky to Anderson in 1946 to seek work and adventure like so many others at the time where she met our dad, William P. Boman Sr. They were married in 1948 and two sons, William P. Boman Jr. and Timothy A. (Lisa) Boman came from that union. She married Clifford Mitchell in 1972, and lived a long and happy life with him until his passing 1998.
She is survived by her two sons; and daughter-in-law; two granddaughters, Gentry and Emily; sisters, Edith Froman and Uldene Scott; brothers, Lonnie (Sarah) Pierce, and Shannon (Brenda) Pierce. She is also survived by numerous and loving nieces, nephews, friends, neighbors, and very special adopted family, Drs. Carol Clark and Chris Melin and their two sons, Kurt and Daniel.
Mom was an unbelievably fun and outgoing people person who enjoyed life, her family and friends, and loved her church family and pastor, John Hackney at Cross Roads United Methodist Church. Her homes throughout her life were always an open refuge for all where the sounds of music and laughter was always a constant. She was a wonderful cook and a master crochet artist whose afghan pieces grace many a home. She loved to sing, dance, could pick a guitar, and had an encyclopedic knowledge of country and western music. She could be opinionated with no shortage of speaking her mind, but always loving and compassionate. Tim would like to say to mom, "You will be forever and always in my heart. Thank you for giving me your unconditional love and support through life's journeys and trials". Billy would like to say to mom, "Mom was a great character whom I nicknamed "Maxine My Queen" as a teen. She had such a musical soul and told of singing gospel songs with her dad and sisters on street corners of tiny Kentucky farm towns during the depression. There was always music in the house and she would watch "American Band Stand" with me and we would dance to the new moves we saw from Philly. She was a truly great mother, supporting Tim and I in all our endeavors.........we are sure going to miss her".

Come celebrate her life with us at Loose Funeral Homes and Crematory, 200 W. 53rd St., Anderson, at 2 p.m. Monday, June 12, 2017. There will be live music, followed by a short service at 3 p.m. by Pastor John Hackney. Burial will be immediately after in East Maplewood Cemetery, Anderson.
