Mary passed away peacefully at home after a brief illness Friday, Jan. 28, 2005.
Mary Kathleen Slattery was born March 30, 1924, in Tindel, S.D., the daughter of James P. and Margaret V. (Striegel) Slattery. She graduated from St. Elizabeth High School, Harper, Iowa.
Mary was united in marriage to Jim Seward June 27, 1945, at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Davenport.
Mary was a homemaker and caregiver. She enjoyed bingo, bowling, cards, birds, her long, peaceful walks, and especially her family and friends.
She was a member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, its Altar & Rosary Society, and the Women's International Bowling Congress.
Survivors (and spouses) are her husband, Jim; a daughter, Madonna Seward, Davenport; sons, Dan Seward, Davenport, Kevin (Tanya) Seward, East Moline, and Jimmie (Becky) Seward, Bettendorf; grandchildren, B.J., Shera, Tony, Nick, and Stephanie; a sister, Wilma O'Brien, Tallahassee, Fla.; many nieces and nephews; and special friends Joe and Laurie Verdi and their daughters, Jordan, Sydney and Isabella. Her parents and four brothers preceded her in death.
