Bernice Walston, 95, of Florence, passed away on June 4, 2017 in Houston, Texas.
Bernice Anderson Walston was born on March 23, 1922, to John and Mabel Anderson of Georgetown, the third child of seven.
She started school at Bell School and graduated from Hutto High School.
Bernice married Claudie Walston on June 29, 1941. They were blessed with two children, Mike and Donna. She was a wonderful cook and canned everything from the garden. She also learned to cook everything her hunter and fisherman husband brought home. She worked and retired as a teller at Citizen State Bank in Georgetown. She was also a member of the Church of Christ in Florence.
Bernice was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Claudie Walston, sisters Frances Fletcher and Ruby Nell Thompson, brothers Harry Anderson and Floyd Anderson.
She is survived by her son Mike Walston of Florence, daughter Donna Castle of Tomball, grandchildren Linda Walston, Jason Walston, Greg Castle, Brent Castle, great granddaughter Capelynn Castle, and her sisters Doris Lindholm of Georgetown and Ione Nickolson of Austin.
A Visitation will take place on Saturday, June 10, 2017 from 9:00 am – 10:30 am, at The Gabriels Funeral Chapel, 393 N. IH 35, Georgetown.
The funeral services will immediately follow. Burial will be at the Evangelical Free Church Cemetery in Georgetown.
In Lieu of flowers, the family asks donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association in Bernice's honor, P.O. Box 96011, Washington, D.C. 20090-6011.
