Funeral services for Ernest V. "Sonny" Carter 79 of Delhi will be held on Thursday, June 8, 2017 at 10 AM in the chapel of Cox Funeral Home of Delhi with Bro. Buddy McGurk officiating. Visitation will be held on Thursday at Cox Funeral Home from 9 AM until time of services.
Burial will be in the Delhi Masonic Cemetery under the direction of Cox Funeral Home.
Sonny was born in Richland Parish, LA on November 1, 1937 to the union of Ernest Votamin Carter Sr. and Margaret Ann Winstead.
He was a retired truck driver for a fertilizer company.
Preceding him in death were his parents, a brother Thomas Earl Carter and his beloved wife Ruthie Valerie Carter.
Ernest is survived by three children, Ronald Faves of Delhi, LA,Donald Faves and wife Christy of West Monroe, LA and Melanie Stokes and husband Hank of Savannah, GA; 7 grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
Also surviving him are two sisters Joyce Moore of Delhi, LAand Doris Turner of Brandon, MS; two brothers Jimmy Carter and wife Lovie of Decatur, MS and Jerry Wayne Carter and wife Debra of Delhi, LA along with numerous nieces and nephews.
