Martha passed away on Saturday, June 3, 2017 in Portage at the age of 94. She was born on January 13, 1923 a daughter of Lambert and Minnie (Talma) Dieterman. Martha was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Jacob Veldkamp; second husband, Robert Spencer; son, Rodney J. Veldkamp; and four siblings. Surviving are three children, Linda (Dennis) Taft of Portage, Sandra (Allen) Penney of Scotts and Michael (Cynthia) Veldkamp of Mendon; eight granddaughters, Michelle Taft, Denise Gobee, Mistylee Osborne, Heather Exum and Jaclynn, Jennifer, Jessica & Julianna Veldkamp; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 8th from 6 to 8pm at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 South 9th Street where services will be held at 11:30 Friday morning. A reception will follow the service. Private interment services will be held in South Portage Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan.
