To all the family and friends of Sherman Bradley - let it be known that his spirit is now released from his physical body with its limitations caused by pancreatic cancer.

Sherman is now with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. There is sweet reunion with loved ones gone before, especially his father and daughter, Heather Elaine.

Sherman was born in Merkel and was always true to the values he learned growing up in West Texas. His parents, Deward and Inez Dishman Bradley, were his first teachers and they taught him the important things in life by living lives rooted deeply in their Christian faith. He learned to be honest, trustworthy, kind, compassionate, and to know the value of hard work. He learned to work with his hands from his dad and his Uncle Paul Bradley and he was a skilled handyman all his life. He was blessed to have brothers and sisters - J D Bradley (deceased), Canon Bradley, Dorothy Nell Bradley (deceased), and Wanda Bradley Welch, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Sherman earned three university degrees in various subjects - history, English, chemistry, biology. His career was spent in the oil and gas industry where he worked for Sun Oil Company and the Atlantic Richfield Company. He began as a chemical engineer and moved on into various management capacities. He enjoyed technology and was most interested in the practical side - how technology could be made to work for people. He enjoyed his coworkers and kept in touch with many of them in his years of retirement.

Family was the most important part of Sherman's life. He married his high school sweetheart and best friend, Beth Dunagin Bradley, and they enjoyed 40 years of a strong and happy marriage. They made their home in Richardson, Texas. This marriage was blessed with two daughters who brought them much joy. Erin Bradley Link and her husband, Rob Link, presented Sherman his sweetest gift, Lily Elaina Link, his now five year old granddaughter. She adores her "Grandbrad" and in May another child will join the Link family. Daughter Heather Elaine died from ovarian cancer at the age of 26 in 2000.

Sherman was an active member of the First Baptist Church, in Richardson for many years. He was a member of the Abernathy Greeters Sunday School Class and held his fellow members in high esteem.

For over ten years Sherman was a pancreatic cancer survivor. He considered these years to be a gift from God and he used them wisely. He corresponded with others suffering from this disease via the Internet. He shared with them his experiences and brought hope to many. Most of his medical care was done at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. His family offers profound thanks Dr. Geoff Thompson, surgeon and friend, for his untiring efforts to give Sherman as many years, and the best quality of life, as possible.

Sherman taught his daughters, and he himself lived by, a simple rule, the Golden Rule: Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. He was very generous in every sense, always preferring to offer his support quietly. A true gentleman and friend, and always the same kind and friendly man in every circumstance and with every person he met.

Funeral services will be held at the First Baptist Church in Richardson on Wednesday, February 21, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. Burial will be in Restland Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. at Restland on Tuesday, February 20th.

In lieu of flowers gifts may be made to the Texas A&M Foundation, designated for the Heather Bradley Endowed Scholarship, 401 George Bush Drive, College Station, Texas 77840; or to Community Partners of Dallas, 8700 North Stemmons Freeway, Dallas, Texas 75247.
