Norma (Bennett) Leonard, 87 of Levering, died June 2, 2017 at The Villa at the Bay in Petoskey, MI.
Norma was born January 11 in Grand Rapids, MI., the daughter of Clinton and Ruth (Stewart) Bennett. She grew up in Levering and attended school at Pellston High School. She later received her cosmetology license from Michigan College of Beauty Culture.
In July of 1966, she married Donald Leonard in Washington, MI.
Norma was a co-owner of the Fashion School of Beauty Culture and was an instructor for many years. Norma was kind hearted and loyal to her family. She was known for her great sense of humor and everyone loved her.
Norma was an avid league bowler. She also enjoyed going to flee markets, buying antiques and refinishing them. She loved listening to all types of music, reading books and spending time with children.
Norma is survived by her siblings, Harvey Bennett, Maxine (J.C.) Byard, Max (Sue) Bennett, Patsie Smith, Clella Bennett, Douglas Bennett and Rodney (Edie) Bennett; step children, Melvin (Leona) Leonard and Carol (William) Bevins; step grandchildren, Melvin Jr., Mike, John, Andrea, Diana, Carolyn and Jody; six step great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Norma was preceded in death by her husband, Donald; parents, Clint and Ruth; brothers, Stewart, Donald and Delbert Bennett; sister, Margie Strand; and step son, Donald Leonard Jr.
There will be a visitation at the Bliss Missionary Church on Wednesday, June 7 from 6-8 p.m. Norma's funeral service will be held on the following day, Thursday, June 8 at 11:00 a.m. at the Bliss Missionary Church. Pastor Rob Rhiner will officiate.
