BIOGRAPHICAL EXCERPTS

During his service in the Korean Conflict he was awarded The Purple Heart, as well as the Korean Service Medal with 3 bronze stars and the National Defense Service Medal. He was also awarded with a Special Commendation.

Harvey served in the US Army from 1952-1954, in the 143d Field Artillery Battalion, 40th Infantry Division.

On September 23, 1967 he married Anita Thume in Flint, MI.

He worked as a skilled trades automobile mechanic for General Motors in Flint, MI. until he retired.

He loved woodworking, carpentry, crossword puzzles, cribbage and Jeopardy.

Harvey P. Bennett of Levering, MI, passed away peacefully, Tuesday April 3, 2018 at Medilodge in Traverse City, MI. He was born November 14, 1931 to Clinton and Ruth (Stuart) Bennett in Bliss, MI.

He was preceded in death by his parents. His siblings, Stuart, Donald, Delbert, Margie and Norma. His first wife Ileta “Pepper” Widman and his wife Anita Thume.

He is survived by five children; 10 grandchildren; Stephanie, Tracy, Harvey has six surviving siblings. [EDITED]

MEMORIAL

A celebration of life service was held at 11:00 am, Saturday April 7 at Bliss Missionary Church, Reverend Jodi Baron will be officiating. Visitation for family and friends was held at Stone Funeral Home in Petoskey, MI. on April 6 from 6pm to 8pm.

A special thank you for loving care of Harvey and his family to Hospice of Northern Michigan and the Staff of Medilodge in Traverse City.
