Inez was the daughter of Ole Andrew Engebretson and Tobine Christophersdatter Allestad (Evje).

She had five siblings: Esther Lillian, Alice Crystal, Olaf Arnold, Judith Theadora, and Ernest Emanuel.

Inez married Clarence Albert Lewis on December 23, 1934.
