He was the son of Henry and George Ann (Martin) Ayers. Her first marriage to Berry F. Byars was 2/10/1896 in Jefferson Co., Ill. She was listed as Mary L. Wolf. They had one daughter, Emma (Byars) Pierce, b. abt 1897, died in 1965 in Ottawa, Illinois.
