Ann Birdwell Carter passed away in the hospital after fighting a long struggle following a severe fall and bouts of pneumonia two years ago.
Ann was born to Josephine Larrson and Robert Blaine Birdwell in Austin, Texas. She graduated from Austin High School in 1951.
Ann and Bobby Edward (Bobby) Carter were married in Austin on October 3, 1955.
She retired from the Travis County Clerk's office in 1991 after 26 years of service, and she and her husband Bob traveled extensively, settling down in Travis and Burnet Counties in homes they built.
Ann was especially close to her cousins Joe Morris Birdwell and Arthur Nolan Birdwell, brothers and sons of Jim and Esther Birdwell.
Ann and Bob both were very talented, energetic, and generous with their time helping others build and remodel homes. Ann was a genius at finding and digging and transplanting plants and their yard and gardens were show stoppers. She was a talented decorator and an excellent cook.
However, her favorite past time was spending time with her family, her eight grandchildren and 14 great grand- children.
She is survived by her husband Bobby, daughters Sharon Chicoby (Randy), Hutto, TX and Brenda Burnette (Kelly), Sugar Grove, IL. Funeral services and burial by Cook-Walden Funeral Homes in Austin TX.
