Pontotoc - Hazel Faye "Grandmother" Russell, 75, died peacefully on June 2, 2017. She was born July 24, 1941, in Pontotoc, to Marvin Albert Russell and Hattie Francis Elizabeth Vaughn Russell. She married her husband, Billy Rex Russell, on July 1, 1961. She was a faithful member of Oak Hill Baptist Church for well over 50 years. She retired from Pontotoc Hospital in 1998, after serving there for 21 years.
Services will be Sunday, June 4, 2017 at 2PM at Tutor Memorial Funeral Home in Pontotoc. Bro. Terry Faulkner and Bro. Marty Browning will officiate. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery. Tutor Memorial Funeral Home of Pontotoc is in charge of arrangements.
She is survived by her four children: Boyd Russell (Linda), Rhoda Faulkner (Terry), Billy Wayne Russell (Gwyn) and Kimberly Homan (Harold); her twelve grandchildren: Daniel Russell (Karen), Wesley Russell (Kayla), Colby Russell (Carol), JoAnna Faulkner, Jonathan Faulkner, Joseph Faulkner, Jessie Faulkner, Christian McRaney (Reed), Micah Russell (Mary Beth), Benjamin Russell, Dustin Homan and Zachary Homan; three step-grandchildren: Michael Cooper (Shaunda), A.J. Mann (Brittney) and Angel Hicks (Josh); five great grandchildren: Grayson Russell, Hannah Russell, Cheyenne Russell, Ethan Russell and Teagan Russell; numerous step-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Bill Russell, her parents, her sister, Evelyn Barton and an infant brother.
Her grandsons will serve as pallbearers and her great grandsons will serve as honorary pallbearers.
