Connie Renae Green, age 66, of Victoria passed away May 30, 2017 after a long illness. She was a gentle spirit who loved all. She loved to travel mainly in the Caribbean Islands. She had a love for teaching the "Teen Scene" at Sunday School. She served graciously in the Church until her illness prevented her from doing so. Connie was employed as a Registered Nurse and Case Manager for DeTar Health System for 34 years. She was a graduate of the first senior class at Stroman High School in 1969. She continued her education and received a Bachelor's of Science Degree in nursing in 1974 from Texas Women's University in Denton, Texas.

Connie was born September 3, 1950 in Victoria to the late James and Connie Bell. She was also preceded in death by a son, Michael, and daughter, Candice. She leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Rev. Ronald Green of Victoria; daughters, Latoyia Gooden (Kevin) of Garland and Kimberly Hamilton of Missouri City; step-sons, Olan and Royce Green of Houston; step-daughter, Brandy Green Lamkin of Los Angeles, CA; grandchildren, Christopher Sellers, Aaden Hamilton and Alexander Hamilton; two Godchildren, J'Lea Simmons of Manor and Dalton Brown of Refugio; one sister, Jackie Bell; brother, James C. Bell, Jr., both of Victoria; nephew, Jeremiah Friar (son of Jackie Bell); as well as a host of relatives and friends.

The life of Connie was no accident. She was a part of God's plan. The beauty of her experience may be found in the fact that successful molding has taken place. God has sent His angel to tap this good lady on the shoulder and say that she has done a good job. Essentially, we are here to celebrate a job well done. That is a cause for joy, not sadness.

This is a time for thanksgiving-not for what has been taken, but for what has been given. Consider the gifts that are left behind as an inheritance. First, Connie has left a good name, there is no shame for you here. We have sometimes made pride seem shameful. Yet there is a kind of pride that is special: a good name. Second, Connie has left behind a good example. She was as human as the rest of us, but let's face it-some just have a better grip on life's realities than other do. There was no question as to the priorities in her life. Third, Connie has left us the assurance of being loved. You, family and friends as well, have an advantage over many people. Many people live a lifetime without experiencing the love you have received from Connie. Her death becomes a way of claiming these gifts, and because of that inheritance you discover that her passing has become a precious thing for you as well.

A Wake will be held Friday, June 2, 2017 from 6 – 8 pm at Rosewood Funeral Chapels. The Home Going Service will be at 1 pm Saturday, June 3, 2017 at St. Peters Baptist Church, Rev. Kevin Van Hook officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery.
