Holland services

Visitation for Lola M. Holland of Iola, whose death Tuesday was reported in Wednesday’s Register, will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday at Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Memorial Chapels. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. The Rev. Jim Rausch will officiate. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery.

Memorials to American Diabetes Association or Parkinson’s Association may be left at the funeral home.

She was born Jan. 14, 1919, in Colony, to Daniel and Ometha Schultz Johnson. She grew up in this area and was graduated form Chanute High School. She worked at Trout’s Dress Shop and at Dryer’s Shoes in Iola for 15 years. She moved to Wichita where she made her home for 30 years. She worked as a secretary at Howard Johnsons while in Wichita. After her retirement she returned to Iola to make her home in 2002.

She liked to travel, do embroidery work and quilt.

She is survived by two sons, Roy and his wife, Pam and Rodger and his wife, Mindy, Iola; four daughters, Madalyn Varnell, Iola, Margie Masterson and her husband, Ed, Jacksonville, Fla., Linda Overton, Wichita, and Connie Shetlar and her husband, Clyde, Moran; a brother, Arthur Johnson, Medicine Lodge; 16 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

A daughter, Phyllis Cook, a brother, Ralph Johnson, two sisters, Grace Bliss and Clara Brooks, a granddaughter, Jeannene Gayle McClure, twin grandsons, Daniel and Joseph Holland, and a great-grandson, Brandon Cook, died earlier.
