Civil War Veteran. Dr. Dozier graduated from the South Carolina Military Academy in 1856. In 1859 he graduated from the Oglethorpe Medical College in Georgia. When the Civil War began, Dozier enlisted as a private in the 21st Regiment S. Carolina Infantry. Before long Dozier was promoted to adjutant. During the first day of battle at Battery Wagner Dozier receieved a serious chest wound. Weakened from his wound, Dozier developed a serious case of pneumonia, which resulted in a medical discharge. Not to be deterred Dozier reenlisted in the Medical Corps as a surgeon. Dozier was assisgned to General Longstreet's staff, where he remained for the duration of the war. In March 1868 Dozier moved California and settled in the Napa area, where he was the 1st Assistant Physician at the Napa Asylum for the Insane.
