Albus Sanders Ramsey was born March 7, 1868 in Lebanon, Wilson County, Tennessee to Thomas Hannibal Ramsey and Martha Sanders McKinney. His mother died shortly after his birth and his father died a few years later. He had a sister Agnes Viola Ramsey, and one half-sister Martha J. "Mattie" Ramsey. Albus lived with his maternal grandparents Samuel Jordan McKinney and Martha Ann Locke for much of his childhood. He married Leona Humphrey Hunter January 11, 1889 in Wilson County Tennessee. They had three sons, Charley Hershel "C H", Willie Lawrence , and Oakley Lillard, and a daughter Lillian Viola. The family moved to Collin County Texas around the turn of the century. Leona died in 1902 of Typhoid Fever and soon after Albus married Mary Elizabeth "Mollie" Blakely. They had five sons, four who survived, Ray James "R J", David Alvis D A, Carlos Walker "Bud" and Elrre Woodrow.

Albus had on step-daughter, Mary's daughter, Ruby Mae Burk. Mary died in 1924 and was laid to rest in the Celeste Cemetery in Hunt County Texas. Albus joined her August 4, 1952.
