Charles Hershel Ramsey was born July 16, 1890, in Wilson County Tennessee to Albus Sanders Ramsey and Leona Humphrey Hunter, the oldest of four children, Charlie, Lillian, Willie Lawrence and Oakley Lillard.

The family moved to McKinney, Texas in Collin County about the turn of the century, my Grandfathr Charlie being the age of 10 years. He suffered a terrible loss in 1902 with the death of his mother Leona. His father then married Mary Elizabeth "Mollie" Blakely, a young widow with a daughter, Ruby Mae Burk. Mollie was a wonderful mother to Charlie and his siblings and she and his father Albus, gave him four more brothers, Ray James "R J", David Alvis "D A",
Carlos Walker "Bud" and Elrre Woodrow.

On September 22, 1912 in Hunt County, Texas, Charlie married Allie Myrtle Carpenter. They were the parents of four children, Doyle Leon, Floyd Raymond, Loveta Marie and Juanita Fay.

Charlie lost his beloved Allie March 13, 1942 to cancer. My grandfather moved into our home when I was 6 years old. He lived there all of my time at home and many years beyond. It was wonderful to grow up with him in the house. He told great stories about the early days of living in Tennessee. I only wish I had been wise enough to write them down. I was not and much has been lost. He eventually moved the Maysville, Oklahoma to live near his son Doyle until his passing in February of 1980. He was buried in California beside his beloved Allie. I miss him very much.
