Kathleen Ellyn "Kathy" Kelsey Hansen
1958 - 2017

Early Life: Kathy was born September 1, 1958, in Bountiful, Utah, the daughter of Roy and Elsie Limb Kelsey, in a large family with three brothers and three sisters. She graduated from Bountiful High School.
Life's Work | Service | Interests: Following a short period of study at Southern Utah University, Kathy met her sweetheart, Steven Hansen, in the summer of 1978; they married shortly after on November 1, 1978, in the Salt Lake Temple. Kathy was a long-suffering and devoted mother to her six children. She loved her three daughters-in-law and son-in-law as her own and adored her ten grandchildren. She dedicated much of her time and energy to helping her family and always encouraged and helped nurture close family relationships. Kathy lived a life of service; she was always eager to help and give to those around her. She was a faithful and dedicated member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where she served in assignments related to music, teaching youth and children, and helping others to become self-reliant and prepared for emergencies. She was also known to spend a lot of time serving in the temple and caring for her aging father. Kathy had a very strong and unwavering faith in God and lived her life accordingly. She had the gift of being able to see the good in those around her while overlooking shortcomings: always encouraging, never chastising. A deeply committed person, Kathy always put 100 percent of her effort into any endeavor she chose to undertake. She loved learning and always worked to improve herself and grow her knowledge. Gardening was truly a joy for her and she was always excited to share her harvest and new techniques. She valued skills related to self-reliance and worked hard to be well prepared for foreseen and unforeseen events; she encouraged and empowered others to do the same. Kathleen Ellyn Kelsey Hansen passed away peacefully in the presence of her husband and children on May 22, 2017, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She was 58.
