Mrs. Wylene Newsome Wilks, age 81 of Henagar, passed away on Wednesday, May 24, 2017 at Southern Plantation in Loganville, GA. Funeral service is Sunday, May 28, 2017 at 2:00 pm from Kerby Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. David Hairston officiating. Burial will follow in Henagar Methodist Cemetery. Family will receive friends on Saturday from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm and Sunday from 12:00 pm until service. She is survived by:

She taught at Ider High School from 1959 until 1979, Dardanelle (Arkansas) middle school from 1979 until 1984, and North Sand Mountain High School from 1984 until her retirement in 2003. She once said, "I like students who want to learn and try."
Mrs. Wilks was a faithful member of Henagar Baptist Church, and served as a Sunday School teacher as long as her health would allow.
