Marvin Dowden, 78, died Wednesday at Lutheran Hospital in Ft. Wayne, IN. He was born on August 6, 1938 to the late Everett E. & Leona L. (Kleist) Dowden. He married Rebecca (Christlieb) Dowden on January 19, 1959 in New Haven, IN. They were married for 58 years and he was a wonderful and loving husband who took care of his family.

Surviving are his wife, Rebecca of St. Joe; sons, David of Auburn and Doug of Butler; daughter, Dee Ann Crecelius of St. Joe; canine companion, Cody; 3 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren and brothers & sisters including Kenneth Dowden of Huntington, IN. He was preceded in death by a son-in-law, John Crecelius and a daughter-in-law, Katherine Dowden.

Marvin was a farmer, worked for Dana for 33 years, was on the DeKalb County Fair Board for over 25 years, and mowed Riverside Cemetery in St. Joe for 20 years. He was also a member of the Draft Horse Association, the Saddle Club, the State Draft Horse Association and the St. Joe Church of Christ. He and Becky were able to travel to every state except for Alaska.

Calling will be held on Saturday, May 27, 2017 from 4-6 pm at Carnahan-Baidinger & Walter Funeral Home in Spencerville, IN. Burial will take place at a later date at Riverside Cemetery in St. Joe, IN.
