Son of Major Joshua Lister Ingham and Violet Ingham (nee Warburton Lee) of Todcaster in Yorkshire.

Edward was married to Pamela Mary Barrington Ingham (nee Chance) of Minety, Wiltshire. She later married John Arden Franklyn. Pamela died on the 17th October 2015 in her 100th year.

His brother Phillip Lister Ingham was a 2nd Lieutenant in the Oxford & Bucks Light Infantry. Aged just twenty he was killed on 21st May 1940 and is buried in Bruyelle War Cemetery in Belgium.
