Funeral Home Obituary:

Date of Birth: November 5, 1938 | Date of Death: May 18, 2017 | Service Date: 2:00 pm, Saturday, June 3, 2017.

Thelma Anne Jackson (known to friends and family as Anne), of Wimberley, Texas passed away at the age of 78 on Thursday, May 18, 2017 in Dripping Springs, Texas after courageously battling cancer for more than two years

Anne was born in Collin County, Texas on November 5, 1938 to parents Joseph Oscar Reed and Beulah Ellen Reed.

She grew up on a farm in Collin County with little more than her basic needs provided, instilling within her a compassion for others of lesser means. Anne came from a large family including 2 sisters and 7 brothers.

Anne graduated from Plano High School in 1956 and went to work at Reserve Life Insurance Company in Dallas and assisted others in her family as able.

She married the love of her life, Richard Ford Jackson, on August 30, 1963 and enjoyed a marriage to him of 53 years. She and her husband lived in Dallas for most of their married lives.

Anne studied at the University of Texas at Arlington, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English, even as she raised three children, often managing the household while her husband was away on business. Her desire was to apply her education by pursuing a career as a public-school teacher, though this goal was ultimately deferred as she and her husband lived overseas for periods of time in Germany, Norway, and Saudi Arabia as demanded by his career. Even so, these times abroad allowed her to meet lifelong friends whom she cherished.

She and her husband retired to Wimberley, Texas in 1998, where they volunteered for approximately 15 years at the Village Store thrift, benefiting Wimberley Habitat for Humanity.

Anne is survived by her husband, Richard Ford Jackson; two sons: Richard Russell

Jackson and his wife Elaine, and Gregory Elliot Jackson and his wife Stacey; daughter, Charla Kay Jackson; grandchildren Dustin Gregory Jackson, Danielle Rae Gilbert and her husband Seth, and Steele Chance Choate. She is also survived by 8 siblings: Richard Reed and his wife Coleen; Virginia Lanter; Jerry Reed and his wife Lynn; Roy Reed; Charles Reed and his wife Sharon; Genny Gowens and her husband Eddie; Dean Reed and his wife Diane; David Reed and his partner Fred.

Anne was preceded in death by her parents and her dear brother Freddie Malcolm Reed, who died tragically at 15.

Her memorial service will be at St. Andrew's Presbyterian church in Austin on June 3 at 2 pm.

In lieu of flowers please send any memorial donations to Wimberley Valley Habitat for Humanity.
