Beulah "Boo" Lee Duke Smith, 76, went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, August 20. A live long resident of Linden and Marengo County, she worked for the State of Alabama for many years in the Soil Conservation Service and retired as a program technician. She was born in Gallion, Hale County November 16, 1937 and is preceded in death by her parents Lillian Lelia Rinehart and John Edward Duke as well as her former husband William Homer "Billy" Smith, former sheriff of Marengo County. She is also preceded in death by brothers Edward Woodfin Duke, John Rufus "Lo" Duke, Martin Allen "Buck" Duke, Carl Marse Duke, Charles Bernard" Bern" Duke; sisters Frances Elizabeth Shaw, Bertha "Donie Lu" Littleton, Evelyn "Tiney" Duke, Marie King and Annie Hazel Duke. She is survived by her sister, Dorothy Ann Holt (Jackie) of Montgomery. A member of Linden Baptist Church, she died at her residence and the family will receive visitors this Friday, August 22 at O'Bryant Chapel Funeral Home at 6pm. Graveside services will be directed by her sister in Montgomery and she will be laid to rest in Greenwood Cemetery in that city on Saturday, August 23, 2014 at 11:00am with the Reverend Brooks Barkley officiating.
