Irene E. Picard,74,of 182 Oak St.,died Tuesday night at Central Maine Medical Center after a short illness.
She was born in Groveton,N.H.,April 15 1917,the daughter of Joseph and Lucy Lapointe Aube, She was a resident of this community most of her life.
For the past 25 years she had been employed at Sam's Italian Sandwich Shoppe on Main Street. Mrs Picard was a founding member since 1970, and past president of the Junior Bowling League where she was active member. Her talents included being
an avid ice skater,which she also taught to the area youth for many years.
Mrs Picard was an active in many charitable causes, including the Bowl-A-Rama, which has collected the largest amount for the past 10 years for the Muscular Dystrophy Foundation.
She was the widow of Ernest Picard,who died Jan. 5,1974
She is survived by one daughter Doris Lahey of Auburn: three sons, Raymond Picard of Lewiston, John Picard of Auburn,and Donald Picard of Antioch,Ill.: three sisters,Dolores Aube and Laurette Aube ,both of Lewiston and Mrs Daniel (Therese) Myrand of Sabattus: two brothers Jean Aube of Florida and Robert Aube of Auburn: and 12 grandchildren.
