Benjamin Harrison Carroll, son of John M. and Sarah Carroll, was born March 9,1889 in Miller County, Missouri, and passed away at Park Lane Memorial Hospital in St. Louis, on September 22,1949, being at the time of his death, 60 years, 6 months and 13 days of age. He received his education at the Johnston School and spent most of his boyhood in Miller County.
On August 14, 1913 he was united in marriage to Opal Elsie Abbott of Iberia and to this union 8 children were born, two of whom, Virgil and Richard, preceded him in death. He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, 4 daughters, Zee Hamilton, Crocker; Frances Teeple, Versailles; Imogene Robert, Greeley, Colo.; Jeanette Nettler of St. Louis. Two sons, Clarence and Jerry of St. Louis; one brother, John of Dixon; four sisters, Lavade Porter, Crocker, Mo.; Minnie Kimmel of Depew, Okla.; Rosa and Ida Shelton of Kinta, OkSa.; 8 grandchildren and numerous other relatives and friends. He was a kind and loving husband, and was always ready to lend a helping hand to neighbors and friends.
Funeral services were conducted Sunday afternoon at the Crocker Christian church by the pastor, Rev. C.A. Nicholson, and burial was in the Bethany cemetery north of town under the direction of J.L. Hoops & Sons.
