Dan Edwin Parker Jr. 68, of De Kalb, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, May 16, 2017 at Mosaic Life Care Hospital. He was born January 30, 1949 in St. Joseph, MO. He attended DeKalb High School and then served in the Marines and is a veteran of the Vietnam War. He worked at Seitz meatpacking, Peach Tree Door as a Dye setter, and at RSP recycling. He was a good mechanic, and enjoyed Harley Davidson motorcycles, traveling to Sturgis, and working on motorcycles. When he was younger he enjoyed fishing, hunting, trapping and the outdoors. He was a Christian. Daniel was preceded in death by father, Daniel Edwin Parker Sr., mother, Helen King, and sister Jane Parker. Survivors include, sisters, Rufena (Larry) Burton, Sally (David) Roberts, brother, Jeff Parker, all of St. Joseph, MO, companion, Leah Grinstead, best friend, Collene Paden of St. Joseph, MO, 3 nieces, 1 nephew, and several great nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am, on Friday, May 19, 2017 at Rupp Funeral Home, Rev. Pat Sampson officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM on Friday at the Rupp Funeral Home. The Interment will be at the Bethel Cemetery with Military honors under the auspices of the United States Marines. Memorials are requested to the Friends of the Shelter or DAV - Disabled Veterans.
