Irene F. Belshe, 90 of Granite City passed away on Sunday, May 14, 2017 at Gateway Regional Medical Center. Irene was born on November 21, 1926 in Granite City; a daughter of the late Charles and Myrtle (Morgan) Burnett. Irene operated a beauty shop from her home in Granite City for many years and was a faithful member of Calvary Baptist Church in Granite City. Irene will be remembered for her superb sense of humor and all the wonderful times she shared with her family and friends. She is survived by and will be missed by her children; Judy Belshe of Granite City; Roger (Janet) Belshe of Edwardsville, grandchildren, Stacey (Brian) Toomay of Des Peres, MO; Stuart (Emily) Belshe of Chesterfield, MO; and her great-granddaughters, Carson Layne Toomay, Quinn Kayelyn Toomay and Vivian Mae Belshe, a brother-in-law Leland (JoAnn) McMillin of Kansas City, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents, Irene was preceded in death by her husband; Thomas H. Belshe, whom she married on October 17, 1947; her brothers, Ralph Burnett, Harold Burnett and her sister, Pauline Seebold. In celebration of Irene's life, friends may call on Saturday, May 20, 2017 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 12:00 p.m. at Calvary Baptist Church, 3000 Washington Ave. in Granite City with Pastor Jesse Tedder officiating. Following a luncheon at the church burial will be at Sunset Hill Memorial Estates in Glen Carbon. Memorials are suggested to the Shriner's or Calvary Baptist Church.
