Son of the late Elbridge Gabehart and Linnie Combs Gabehart, he was born on July 30, 1927 in Casey County, Ky.
Gabehart attended Jones Chapel United Methodist Church and was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army.
Survivors include one son and two daughters, Mike Gabehart of Zoneton, Sue Chapman of Buckner and Denise Kuhn of Tampa, Fla.; five grandchildren, Chris Chapman of Mt. Washington, Kevin Chapman of Vine Grove, and Tracie Kuhn, Courtney Kuhn and Clay Kuhn of Tampa, Fla.; four great-grandchildren, Amanda Chapman, Nicholas Chapman and Hunter Chapman of Mt. Washington, and Olivia Chapman of Vine Grove; one brother and three sisters, Mrs. Billie Cox of Ackworth, Ga., Norma Jeffries and Merlin Gabehart of Campbellsville, and Hylma Minor of Mannsville; and a special friend, Mildred Walker of New Albany, Ind.
He was also preceded in death by fourteen siblings, Howard Gabehart, Donald "Tuck" Gabehart, Loreda Cox, Bonnie Farmer, Herbert Gabehart, Earl "Buster" Gabehart, Opal Gabehart, Oakley Hovious, Noel Gabehart, Flossie Mann, Ermine Wise, Mae Williams, Henry Gabehart and a brother in infancy.
Funeral was at 1 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 16 at Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home in Campbellsville by the Rev. Charles Frazier. Burial was in Jones Chapel Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Chris Chapman, Kevin Chapman, Butch Gabehart, Neal Gabehart, Roger Gabehart and Clay Kuhn.
