VANCOUVER, WA-Mary Jo Tresenriter, 67 of Vancouver, Washington passed away peacefully at Legacy Hospital in Vancouver on April 12, 2017.
Mary Jo was born in Sterling, Illinois on November 14, 1949 the daughter of Robert “Joe” and Virginia (Foster) Tresenriter. Mary Jo grew up in Sterling, attended St. Mary’s Grade School and Newman High School. Many will remember her being in band, playing the clarinet, 4-H, Varsity Voices and National Honor Society at Newman. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, crafts and had a passion for genealogy. She worked at Illinois State Police District #1 and #7 before changing careers to become an Air Traffic Controller in the early 80’s, retiring from Oregon Steel Mills (Ezraz) in Portland, Oregon and lived in Vancouver, Washington in what she delighted in as the “Great Pacific Northwest”.
Surviving is brother, Curt Tresenriter (Connie Groff Brown) of Galesburg, IL, sister Carol Tresenriter of Sterling, IL, brother, Gary (Barb Helms) Tresenriter of Rock Falls, IL, nephew, Jonathan Tresenriter of Austin, TX, niece Marilyn (Roman) (Tresenriter) Valdivia of Sterling, IL, great-nephew, Roman Josiah Valdivia and a new life to be with us soon, Baby Valdivia.
Preceding her in death was her mother, Virginia (Foster) Tresenriter, father, Robert “Joe” Tresenriter, brother John Robert Tresenriter, sister, Marilyn Marie Tresenriter, maternal grandparents, Margaret and James Foster, paternal grandparents, Wayne and Velda Tresenriter, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Always Mary Jo loved and cherished her family and she will be missed deeply and remembered lovingly by all of us. There was a special place in her heart for her niece, Marilyn and nephew, Jonathan, she was their Aunt Jo Jo.
Mary Jo made friends where ever she was and always kept in touch with them and old classmates. She will be missed by them all.
Our family would like to invite you to join us at services for Mary Jo at Schilling Funeral Home, 702 First Avenue, Sterling, IL on Saturday, May 13, 2017. Visitation will be from 9-10:30 AM. Memorial service will be at 10:45 AM. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery, Sterling. Celebration of Life will be at 11:45AM at the Sterling Moose Lodge, 2601 East Lincolnway, Sterling, where we can share great stories and memories of our sister, aunt, cousin and friend.
