Elmer (Sonny) Stewart, Jr. age, 67, of Augusta, Georgia, entered into rest on Saturday, May 6, 2017.

Sonny was born in Ben Hill County, Georgia in 1950, and moved to Columbia County in 1957, where he grew up. He served in the US Army from September 16, 1969 to April 16, 1978 and then in the US Navy from January 23, 1983 to March 13, 1992, both with honorable discharges.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Elmer Sanders Stewart, Sr., and Massie Lou Powell Stewart. Sonny is survived by his significant other, Johannah Singletary, Augusta, Georgia; daughter, Donna Campbell, Paul, Idaho; son-in-law, Jorden Campbell, Paul, Idaho; and grandchildren, Elise and Zoe Campbell, Paul, Idaho; brothers, John (Jessie) Stewart, Evans, Homer (Marie) Stewart, Macon, and Bill (Micki) Stewart, Augusta; sisters, Martha Stewart (Ken) Norris, Thomson, Daisy Stewart Browning, Augusta, and Betty Lou Stewart Owens, Fitzgerald; and his two dogs, who he spoiled and adored, Gretchen and Butch.

Memorial services with military honors will be held on Thursday, May 11, 2017 at 11:00 A.M., Fort Jackson National Cemetery, 4170 Percival Road, Columbia, SC 29229.
