Mr. Schmidt died Feb. 11, 2007.
He was born Feb. 2, 1916, in Evansville, Ind., to the late Walter Herman and Leticia Lee Schmidt. He retired as a supervisor from DuPont and was a member of the American Lutheran Church and a 50-year Mason.
Survivors include his wife of 72 years, Hazel Schmidt, Liberty City; daughter, Peggy Browne, Kilgore; son, Bud Schmidt, Holly Lake; brother, Phillip Schmidt, Boise, Idaho; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and other relatives.
If desired, memorials may be made to American Diabetes Association.
