I am a native Texan; my interest in cemeteries was established many years ago when I began researching our family tree. My roots go deep in Dallas where my ancestors help found the City. I am very glad to be a contributor and volunteer for Find a Grave as it gives peace of mind to those who might not know where their loved ones' final resting place might be.
I began by entering mostly memorials for family members. However, I now work more on other folks' families in cemeteries in the East Texas area as I have seen a real need.
A gentleman (and you know who you are) has done an excellent job entering memorials, taking pictures and linking them. When I began adding info to them, he asked if I would manage many of them in several cemeteries. That is how I have so many that are showing that I "manage", but fewer that I originally set up. I am totally open to transferring any memorials to relatives of theirs or even to friends that knew them. I feel it is always better to have a memorial managed by someone who had a personal knowledge of them.
If you would like one of the memorials transferred to you, please use the "Edit" button so that I may respond as quickly as possible. I understand there has to be guidelines for transfers. However, I feel there are various reasons why it is not always feasible to follow the strict guidelines of "only direct descendants". I want to help as many people as possible to get into the system where they can be located by a family member. All that I ask is: If I transfer a memorial to you outside the "direct descendant" guideline, that you transfer it to a closer relative within that guideline if they ask it of you. If I can see this becoming a problem, I will have to stick to the strict definition that Find a Grave sets out.
I give my permission for you to use any photo I have posted, for the purpose of genealogy.
If I have posted a photo to a memorial you have set up for one of your family members and you wish it to be removed, please let me know, as it is never my intention to offend or upset anyone with my photos.
I truly appreciate the cooperation of all the volunteers who work tirelessly to put the most complete, accurate information on this site. It makes it all worthwhile when someone contacts you and says your efforts paid off in their search for a long lost friend or relative. Let's keep it up!!
