Physician. Legislator. He studied medicine under Dr, Jacob Treon, whose daughter Isabella, he later married. He received his medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania. He had an interest in iron manufacturing and coal mining in the Rock Hill Iron and Coal Company of Huntingdon County, Pennsylvania. He served as a senator in the Pennsylvania Assembly. He was a member of the board of Freeland Seminary, which later became Ursinus College. He was a director of the Tradesmen's National Bank of Conshohocken, and was a member of the German Reformed Church in Trappe.
