John loved his job as a truck driver for American Freight, which he later retired from. He also had a passion for fishing as well as other things. John had a particular pickup truck that he kept in his garage. He would regularly sand down and spray paint this pickup. Even though no one else saw it, he could always see "ruins" in the paint that would require another touch up job. John also liked "piddling" around the house, as he would call it, in order to pass time.
He was preceded in death by both parents Charlie and Mary Foley; his brothers, C.T. Foley, Jr., Joe W. Foley, Lawrence Foley, Benny L. Foley, and Elmer Foley; his sisters, Esther Simmons, Elizabeth Cundiff, and Elsie Cundiff.
John is survived by his loving wife, Mary Vivian Foley; his children, Patricia Anna Bell, Deborah Lynn Mundy, John F. Foley Jr., Donna Maria St. Clair, Alfred Wayne Foley, and David Owen Foley; his siblings, Lester Foley, Bobby M. Foley, Lilly Mahone, and Margaret Latimore. John is also survived by many grandchildren and great- grandchildren.
Visitation Services will be held on Saturday, May 6th, 2023 and Sunday, May 7th, 2023 from 4:00 pm-6:00 pm on both days at Oakey's South Chapel.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, May 9th, 2023 at 2:00 pm at Lamp Light Baptist Church located at 4307 Rock Garden Lane, Roanoke, VA 24018. Interment will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens.
